Upgrade from Symantec Antivirus 9.0 to version 10

(A) To Upgrade the Symantec Antivirus Client on a machine WITHOUT Centurian Guard

On the client computer, click Start > Run, and type the following command.
\\zizania\vphome\clt-inst\win32\setup.exe

In the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard window, click Next.

Accept the license agreement, and click Next.

In the Select Type dialog window, leave the setup type as Complete, and click Next.

In the Ready to Install the Program dialog window, click Install to install the application.

Click Next.

When the InstallShield Wizard Completed window appears, click Finish, and then restart the computer.

(B) To Upgrade the Symantec Antivirus Client on a machineWITH Centurian Guard.

First shut the machine down (click the Start button on the lower left corner of the screen, and select Turn off Computer).

Unlock the Centurian Guard.

Restart the machine.

On Gates machines, you will need to log in as “Exec”

On Non-Gates machines, just continue to the desktop as usual

Click Start > Run, and type the following command.
\\zizania\vphome\clt-inst\win32\setup.exe

In the Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard window, click Next.

Accept the license agreement, and click Next.

In the Select Type dialog window, leave the setup type as Complete, and click Next.

In the Ready to Install the Program dialog window, click Install to install the application.

Click Next.

When the InstallShield Wizard Completed window appears, click Finish, and then shutdown the computer.

Restart the machine

Shutdown again

Re-lock the Centurian Guard

Restart the machine again

New install on a machine that does not already have Symantec Antivirus 9.0

Check to see if WINS is enabled on this machine. Here’s how:

Click Start > Control Panel

Click the Network Connections icon. You will see a listing with your “Local Area Connection”.RIGHT click it and select Properties.

Select Internet Protocol and click the Properties button.

Click the Advanced button on the lower right.

Select the WINS tab. If the window contains the address 192.168.12.10, you are all set. Just Cancel your way back to the desktop, and then continue with the appropriate set of instructions above. (A) or (B)

If the window is blank, click on Add and type in the address 192.168.12.10

Click Add, then click OK until you are back to the desktop, and then continue with the appropriate set of instructions above. (A) or (B)
