Viewers for Microsoft Office
Do you ever find yourself trying to open up a MS Office document on a computer that doesn’t have Word? Windows might default to WordPad that won’t open up some things correctly. Word Viewer 2003 lets you open Word 2003 documents and documents that are created in all earlier versions of MS Office Word. By using the viewer, you can view, print, and copy documents contents to another program. However, you cannot make a change to a document that is open, save a document, or create a new document. There is also a viewer for Excel and PowerPoint. These programs will only work with Windows 2000 & XP. If you need to open it on a computer with Windows 98, you can download the older MS Office 97 Viewers. So if I already have MS Office installed on my computers why do I need this? You don’t. It might help a patron out if they type up a document in the library and want to print it out at home. In addition, I have found myself surfing the Internet and trying to open up a PowerPoint presentation and not having it installed on the computer.
