Current Events

Library Legislative Day: January 23, 2007
From Jim Trojanowski, NWLS Director

A quick reminder that Library Legislative Day will be Tuesday, January 23, in Madison. I hope you will join our colleagues in Madison as Wisconsin libraries remind our representatives of the important role we play in the quality of life of those they serve. Librarians, library trustees, and library supporters of all kinds are encouraged to attend. The registration deadline is December 29, 2006. To learn more, visit http://www.wla.lib.wi.us/legis/day/.

If you can't attend, the Wisconsin Library Association is encouraging you to participate in Virtual Library Legislative Day on the same day. It is an inexpensive way for anyone with an interest in libraries to help promote the library message. To read about it, visit http://www.wla.lib.wi.us/legis/day/VirtualLLD.htm

The Wisconsin Library Association has developed a full legislative agenda for 2007. The legislative agenda promotes the needs of all libraries in Wisconsin. The legislative agenda is available at http://www.wla.lib.wi.us/legis/priorities.htm

New Look for Streams

In January, Streams will be changing from an all-text to graphics-based email. If you are unable to view the new format, you may need to modify the message display options in your email program. If you do not want to alter your settings, there will also be a link at the top of the message that will take you to the current issue on the NWLS website.

We appreciate your patience during this exciting transition. Please contact NWLS if you experience any problems. Special thanks to Marsha Sorensen for all her work on the new design!

Reflection

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

EDITOR'S NOTE: Streams will not be sent out on December 28. Watch for the next issue on January 4, 2007.
